Three Brothers Convicted and Jailed for Robbery and Murder of Gay Man

April 28th, 2008 · No Comments

Last June, Mohamed Raheem, 28, was found dead at his home in Holderness Way in West Norwood, South London. Justice has now been served to Cyprian and Sorin Abuclesei, both of Tottenham, north London, as they were convicted of murder and robbery and are set to serve 30 and 28 years, respectively. Their brother, Savu Abuclesei, admitted a charge of murder and was ordered to serve a minimum of 23 years.

The court heard how Cyprian - also known as Igor Irinel - befriended Mr Raheem in a gay pub in central London, before they spent the night together at his flat. The next day Cyprian, 24, and his two brothers Sorin, 33, and Savu, 31, broke into the flat. They stole jewellery and a DVD recorder and then waited for Mr Raheem to return home from work to rob him of cash.

Mr Raheem was found dead the next day. His jaw had been broken and his body was tied to his bed. The court heard he was lying face down on the floor and had suffocated because his breathing had been restricted by a gag.
