Monday, April 28th, is the release of the long awaited self-titled album by Sam Sparro. Sitting nicely at number 2 in the UK with his hit song Black and Gold (see clip below), Sparro is a 24 year old, Australian-born, L.A.-residing, ”reluctant pop-star.”

In a recent interview with me-me-me.tv, he talks about his boyfriend, who styles him up. He says, “Well, my boyfriend is my stylist. We’re both kind of fashion victims and we live in quite a creative part of Los Angeles, we have friends who are designers so it’s just part of our life and it’s what we like, we just love clothes… oh, we’re a couple of gays.”

He was also asked about whether he thinks the music industry should be more open to gay people. He replied, “I agree with that to a certain extent… I don’t know really whether it’s anybody’s business what you do in the bedroom but I’m generally a big advocate of being honest in general, so if you’re intentionally setting up this illusion in the media to pretend you’re something that you’re not, whether it’s not being gay or not, or from a poor neighbourhood even if you’re from Chelsea…you should just be yourself.”

When asked about his exclusivity (read monogamy), Sparro replied, “Ummm… that is a question! No, we’re exclusive. We don’t do things without each other, you can say that…” The interviewer, seeing an opening for himself, perhaps, said, “So we’re talking threesomes?” To which Sparro emphasized, “We don’t do things without each other, that’s all I’m going to say.”

His song ‘Black and Gold’ is, as described by The Sun, “an addictive, euphoric four-and-a-half minutes, dark as night, shiny as gold, but it comes with a meaning so deep that you have to pinch yourself when you realise what he’s banging on about.”
