PORTISHEAD IS BACK! IF you were alive, breathing, and cool in the 90’s, you definitely remember Portishead.

Portishead grew out of the trip-hop scene that exploded in England during the early 1990s. Along with other Bristol-based outfits — such as Massive Attack, Tricky, and Thievery Corporation — Portishead explored some very exciting territory by bending genres to create a sound that incorporated aspects of jazz, hip-hop, psychedelic, and industrial music. Between 1994 and 1998, the group issued two studio albums .

Well, now they have a Third (that’s the actual title), and first in over a decade. And we love it here, at blurbberry, even with its sometimes excessive drum beats. Third successfully and elegantly recaptures electronica.

Watch their video for Machine Gun. It’s a little harsh, so beware (what would you expect from a song titled, Machine Gun?):
