Obama, and the Superdelegates

April 17th, 2008 · No Comments

BaObamarack Obama is leading in pledged delegates and the popular vote across all the caucuses and primaries, and is now leading by close to 10% in national polls, according to RealClearPolitics.com. The superdelegates, those that are privileged to have one vote each, are now the focus of Clinton and Obama. Clinton garnered most of her superdelegates before the primary/caucus season and led by a considerable amount… until the past few weeks. In the last two weeks, Obama has cut her lead from about 50, to an amazing 24 at this point. He has picked up some very key superdelegate players from North Carolina, and one from Indiana. What makes them key is that both states hold their primaries on May 6, and a win in both states will cement Obama’s leadership (not that he isn’t the nominee already). 300 superdelegates are left, and according to Black Star News, about 90% of the remaining superdelegates are likely to join the Obama camp. True or not, this type of information can destroy the steam Clinton is trying to pick up.
