British Members of Parliament are considering this afternoon new measures that would provide equality for lesbians accessing fertility treatments.
Presently, the law requires doctors to “consider the need for a father” when deciding in-vitro fertilization or other doctor-assisted conception. The new bill would replace that rule with “need for supportive parenting.”
Shockingly, Roman Catholic MPs are expected to challenge the change.
The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill also allows for the creation of animal-human embryos for research purposes.
