Thankfully, Alanis Morissette has had another failed relationship with some hot stud guy. Because her new album is angry, and provocative and thoughtful and great. It is Jagged Little Pill, but more mature, and more biting. Especially, since we all know she’s talking about Ryan Reynolds in most of her songs.
For example, her slow-paced, rocker-lite song titled, Tapes, she says, “I’m but a thorn in your sweet side, You’d be better off without me, It’d be best to leave at once. All these tapes in my head swirl around,
Keeping my vibe down, All these thoughts in my head aren’t my own, Wreaking havoc .”
Then there’s Underneath, “look at us break our bones in this kitchen, look at us rallying all our defenses, look at us waging war in our bedroom, look at us jumping ship in our dialogues.”
Alanis proves in her new album to be older, wiser, and a better singer than before. Alanis is back. and back with more vengeance!
The first single ‘Underneath’ will be released in the UK on May 26th 2008 and the album ‘Flavors of Entanglement’ will follow on June 2nd 2008 through Warner Music (the album will be released in the US on June 10th).
Here’s her song, Underneath
